Suddenly Sunday
This week was slow going for me. It felt like I didn't have time for anything and I didn't get a lot of reading or reviewing done so I hope I'll be able to overcompensate this week by getting a whole lot done. First I would like to acknowledge these two awards given to me by Marie at The Burton Review. Her awesome blog is one of the first I started reading after I joined the blogosphere last November. Thanks Marie!
The first award requires I state 10 things about myself and the second requires I state 7 so I am just going to state 10 overall.
1. I am an introvert and always have been. I don't make friends easily but the ones I do make are usually for life. My core group of friends are the same people I have been hanging around with since elementary and middle school.
2. I am a natural redhead and get severely annoyed when people assume I am not. I don't know why I have that reaction. I just do :)
3. At the ripe old age of 22 I became a combat veteran in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. I loved serving my country but I don't love how the experience over there has changed my life. Despite my issues I have to deal with from it, I wholeheartedly support people joining the military and I resent the school systems that purposely shut the military out and don't even give kids the option.
4. I miss my dad every single day. He passed away on October 21st. His death has brought me and my older sister who lives in Houston a lot closer but I would give absolutely anything for one more day with him.
5. On a more lighthearted note, two things I absolutely must have in order to do my job: A Venti sized drink from Starbucks and post it notes. I would be lost without either.
6. With the exception of my sister in Texas, I am closer to my husband's family than my own.
7. My favorite color is purple. It is the color of royalty after all ;-)
8. As much as I would love everyone to think I've only ever read the classics and novels of substance, I confess: my main staple in high school was Danielle Steel.
9. If I could change one thing about myself physically I wish I could be taller. I am only 4' 11"! If I could change on thing about my personality I wish I could be more patient. I get stressed out really quickly.
10. I am a night person and somewhat of an insomniac. I have no idea how I survived four years of waking up at 5 am when I was in the military.
And now I get to pass these awards on to other awesome bloggers.
If you are awarded, here are the rules:
1. Make a new post and add a link to the person who gave it to you
2. Pass this award on to 15 bloggers you've recently discovered and whom you think are fantastic.
3. If you receive the 1 Honest Scrap award please state 10 things about yourself. If you receive the beautiful blogger award please state 7.
Unfortunately I haven't been blog browsing much lately so I don't have 15 I have discovered but I would like to give the 1 Honest Scrap award to:
Home Girl's Book Blog
New Dork Review of Books
Shredded Cheddar
and I would like to award the Beautiful Blogger award to:
Let Them Read Books
Outlandish Dreaming
Life in the Thumb
I enjoy reading each of these blogs and am so glad I found them. Check them out!
Now, as to what I've done this week: I did finish and review The Queen and Lord M by Jean Plaidy. I am currently reading two books: Lord John and the Private Matter by Diana Gabaldon and Mossflower (Redwall Bk 2) by Brian Jacques. I plan to have those both finished today and reviewed sometime this week.
Here's hoping everyone has a fantastic Sunday!

Holly, thank you for the award! Not sure when I'll get around to posting the things about me (but I'll try eventually!). I enjoyed reading your 10 things! Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your awards Holly!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the award Holly! And thank you for serving our country. I agree with you wholeheartedly on the ventis and post-it notes. I love Diana Gabaldon and I love Lord John but I was not a big fan of The Private Matter. I'd like to see what you think of it.

ReplyDeleteThank you for the Honest Scrap Award! =)
So . . . Danielle Steele, aye? ;)
Thank you so much for passing that award on to me!! and congrats on receiving them. I enjoyed reading your 10 things list. My 18-year old son just had his official induction to the Marine Corp. I'm so proud of him, scared too, but I know that he's in God's hands and all I can do is love him and support him! I want to personally thank you for serving your country!
ReplyDeleteTake Care!!
