Suddenly Sunday: Things I'm Loving Edition

Suddenly Sunday is hosted by Svea at The Muse in the Fog Book Review.

It has been rather quiet around here this past week as really the only activity was The Spring Cleaning Giveaway Hop.  I have been intrigued by these hops (hosted by Kathy @ I am a Reader, Not a Writer) and have been wanting to do one for a long time and now that I have and it has been such a positive experience I think I will be doing more in the future.  Anyway, there are a couple of ideas/things that I am absolutely adoring this week and I wanted to share with everyone.

Now first let me say that unless it is an item that I personally bought and love so much that I wish I could by buy a warehouse full to distribute en masse, I usually stay away from any kind of product/business promotion BUT when a business is operating for the benefit of a really worthwhile cause, I am willing to make an exception.  One of these exceptions is the organization Gone Reading which sells items in their store and uses 100% of their after-tax profits to fund reading related causes and charities around the world.  What's not to love about that?  I checked out their store and here are a few of my favorite items.

Next idea I love:

Jenny @ Let Them Read Books launched Avenue Publishing Group in February 2012.  Their mission:  "To publish exceptional romantic historical fiction in enhanced digital formats, while developing talented new authors, celebrating the rich history of the genre, and building a welcoming and entertaining community for readers."

The first part of this endeavor was the launch of the Legacy Vintage Collection, which are titles that have been rediscovered and republished into digital format for new generations of readers to enjoy.  Jenny is looking for bloggers that enjoy classic romantic fiction and who would be interested in participating in blog tours for the Legacy Vintage Collection titles.  You can read her post HERE.  I love the idea of rescuing these gems from obscurity and putting them in digital format so they can get the love they deserve.  I am participating in the tour for The Magnificent Ambersons by Booth Tarkington in April and I can't wait!   As if this idea wasn't awesome enough, Avenue will start publishing original digital format romance titles at the end of the year.

And finally, on the things I love list-my new book light!  Normally I wouldn't share this because I can see everything thinking "Oh, yay.  A booklight.  What's so great about that?"  I'm sharing because I was completely clueless to the fact that you can buy some of these that come with wall adapters so you don't have to drain the batteries when you're at home.  I'm loving mine!

Now- even though I didn't have a whole lot going on here this past week, I do have some stuff coming up this coming week:

Monday: Announcement of Winners for The Spring Cleaning Giveaway Hop

Tuesday: Review and giveaway of The Taker by Alma Katsu in celebration of the paperback release AND
Review of The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte at Royal Reviews.

Friday: Review of Dancing at the Chance by DeAnna Cameron

Friday is the start of spring break here and we'll be hitting the road for a 20 hour drive from Michigan to Houston to see my sister.  So, the rest of today will be devoted to packing the suitcase, sneaking off to see The Hunger Games, and packing a box of books of course.  What else am I going to do in a car for 20 hours?  Even though I will be gone a week I have posts/reviews planned to keep you entertained in my absence. :)

Now, time for me to get to work.  Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!
