Blogger Hop!

Book Blogger Hop was created by Jennifer at Crazy-For-Books.  This hop is the place to discover and start following the awesome blogs written by book nerd kindred spirits :)

Each week there is a question asked on the hop.  This week's question:

“What is your favorite spooky book (i.e. mystery/suspense, thriller, ghost story, etc.)?”

I am admittedly such a wuss when it comes to reading scary novels. A book with anything remotely scary in it will probably have me sleeping with the lights on.  My most recent lights on book would be The Passage by Justin Cronin.  When I was a little kid the one that scared me was The Dollhouse Murders by Betty Ren Wright.  Dolls moving by themselves?  Creepy.

The all time spooky book award belongs to the master of the horror genre-Stephen King and his 1,000 page post apocalyptic nightmare The Stand.  The horrible deaths caused by the superflu made me cringe.  The extremely high body count was also cringe worthy.  Randall Flagg?  Shudder.  Recommend not watching the mini-series right after reading the book unless you really don't want to sleep for a week. Still, I like a good scary novel now and then :)

Thanks for stopping by!

  5. I've never read The Dollhouse Murders - never heard of them before this - but it sounds scary. I hate dolls. I may just read it for the sake of it though, because I need to know what I'm missing out on!

  7. I haven't read The Stand yet - I picked up a copy last year - but I read The Shining for a course at uni but while there were a few tense scenes I remember feeling mostly that it was too long! I love long, chunky books but it just seemed overly wordy. I have more of his books though the only other one I've read of his is The Gunslinger which is really short!

    Here's mine: Giraffe Days
