Mailbox Monday

Mailbox Monday is hosted by Marcia at The Printed Page.

Everyone is entitled to a little retail therapy once in awhile and I've had a pretty trying last couple of weeks at the office so off to the bookstores and libraries I went this week.

This weekend I picked up from Barnes & Noble:
  • The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom
  • Haunt me Still by Jennifer Lee Carrell

Even though I can't wait to read those two I was a little disappointed because I was intending to get Diana Gabaldon's Outlandish Companion and the only copy they had in the store had a rip in the dust jacket! I decided to check the Barnes and Noble site when I got home and moseyed on over to the bargain books section while I was surfing. Well, I found some awesome deals there so I ordered:

  • The Painted Kiss by Elizabeth Hickey
  • The Secret Book of Grazia dei Rossi by Jacqueline Park
  • Company of Liars by Karen Maitland
  • Gwenhwyfar by Mercedes Lackey
  • Henry VIII's Last Victim by Jessie Childs
  • Revelation by C J Sansom
  • Bedlam by Greg Hollingshead
  • The Rose of Sebastopol by Katherine McMahon
  • Lavinia by Ursula K. Le Guin
  • City of God by Beverly Swerling

I went to the Norton Shores Library with the Boy at the beginning of the weekend to return some books he checked out and I checked this out while I was there:

  • The Lady in the Tower by Alison Weir

In their books for sale area I found:

  • Life of Pi by Yan Martel
  • Peony in Love by Lisa See
  • Remarkable Creatures by Tracy Chevalier (HC for $2!)

and finally I have one lone book with an incredibly long title from PBS:

  • A Treasury of Deception: Liars, Misleaders, Hoodwinkers, and the Extraordinary True Story of History's Greatest Hoaxes, Fakes, and Frauds by Michael Farquhar

I got all that and I completely FORGOT to order myself a copy of the Outlandish Companion. My whole intent was to get ONE book, I end up with 17 and and none are the one I was after. Sheesh! Well, maybe next week.....

  1. So jealous! I love the Life of Pi - one of my life changing books. I've lent it to someone and can't work out who! Well done on picking up a second hand copy!

  2. Nice haul!

There was some talk a while ago now that DG is going to release a revised version of The Outlandish Companion. No idea if that is still on the agenda or how long it will take!

  4. You got a ton of great books! I liked The Kitchen House and Company of Liars. I picked up City of God from Goodreads Swap a couple months ago but haven't gotten to it yet. Happy reading!
